Overview"In the NICU babies are surrounded by technology to improve and secure their lives. For brothers and sisters at home, it can be a confusing and scary place. During a difficult and emotional time, ""Chirp's Lullaby"", when shared by parent and child, creates a simple understanding of what happens in the NICU. This interactive storybook gives children a peek into the NICU, and into a special friendship between a baby bird nesting on the windowsill, and tiny Emma inside. This joyful story, created for 3 to 7 year old siblings, is brimming with hope...and sprinkled with love. After conversations with the NICU moms whose infants appeared in ""Chirp's Lullaby"", I discovered the need for a NICU journal. ""Chirp's Lullaby...Tiny Tales"" was created. This journal captures the details of the NICU experience and allows it to be remembered and shared in years to come. Both ""Chirp's Lullaby"" and ""Chirp's Lullaby...Tiny Tales"" are available separately." Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor Information"Author Biography: Elizabeth Schoberg became familiar with the effects of grief on a child when her only daughter was stillborn in 1972. Her 6 year old son withdrew from the family and his schoolmates as he struggled to understand why Mommy didn't bring the new baby home. After writing articles on her family's experience with their young son, Elizabeth was asked to contribute to a new book on coping with high risk pregnancy and caring for the preterm infant. ""What To Do When Your Baby Is Premature"" included a section on the effect of grief on a child. Years later, Elizabeth recognized the need of parents of preemies to open a dialogue with brothers and sisters waiting at home, experiencing uncertainty during a troubling time. ""Chirp's Lullaby"" was created to bridge the gap between fear and hope; affording parents a place to begin sharing with their children the special care given to their baby in the NICU.
