OverviewThis book examines China's presence in Nigeria, a case of colonialism or win-win strategy. The study's specific goals included examining the initiatives China is taking to increase its influence in Nigeria, determining whether the Nigeria-China bilateral trade agreement has increased Chinese trade with Nigeria, and determining whether China's history in Nigeria represents neo-colonialism or a win-win strategy. The findings revealed that there exists a trade imbalance between the two countries. However, both Chinese and Nigerian enterprises have greatly benefited from Chinese economic efforts in Nigeria. Key infrastructure projects have been built thanks to Chinese contributions, resulting in economic gains for both nations. Chinese companies have also given Nigerian employees access to cutting-edge technology and training, fostering the development of a new generation of competent and trained laborers. In regards to the trade imbalance, Nigeria would need to take cues from the achievements and failures of some other nations that had previously connected to China and their own strategies toward growth in order to implement a sensible approach to resolve any imbalance.
