His research focuses on higher education internationalization, comparative higher education, higher education development in emerging economies, and academic knowledge production. He has published on these topics in journals such as Higher Education, Compare: A Journal of Comparative and International Education, and Journal of Studies in International Education. He earned his doctoral degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto and master's degree from Teachers College of Columbia University.
