Overview

"""What do John the Baptist and Winnie the Pooh have in common?"" ""Where is Solomon's temple located?"" These jokes and an array of faith-based puzzles, brainsteasers, and word games are the creation of Catholic puzzlemaster and popular media personality Matt Swaim. Combining his wit and far-reaching knowledge of Catholicism into these entertaining, original puzzle books for adults, Swaim gives you a chance to slow down, test your brain, have fun, and increase your understanding of Catholic teaching and history. Puzzles and games of all kinds are becoming an increasingly popular way to relax while building brain power and concentration. Catholic Puzzles, Word Games, and Brainteasers: Volumes 1 and 2 are the first of their kind for Catholics and a great way to have fun and increase your knowledge of the Church at the same time. Swaim, cocreator and former host of the Son Rise Morning Show, offers a challenge for puzzlers of all skill levels and interests with code scrambles, syllacrostics, dial-a-quotes, wordfalls, and messages in the middle. He provides a twist on classic word games with the missing vowels word search and trial-and-error crossword. There are instructions and solutions for the various types of puzzles included in the book. All of the puzzles offer the reward of helping you learn more about your Catholic faith."

Delightful and fun! The list of saints who played games for recreation and mental strength is stunning: Charles Borromeo, Philip Neri, Francis de Sales, Francis Xavier, Teresa of Avila, and Aloysius Gonzaga. Two of those are Doctors of the Church, so clearly Matt Swaim has done us all a rich favor in imitating the saints with his familiar amusement! --Shaun McAfee, Catholic author and founder of EpicPew Matt Swaim's puzzles are certainly challenging; they are also delightful and edifying. I had great fun playing with them and even learned--or was happily reminded of--a thing or two along the way. I think you will enjoy them too. --Christopher R. Altieri, Cofounder and general manager of Vocaris Media Matt Swaim's Catholic Puzzles, Word Games, and Brainteasers will exercise your neurons while building up your knowledge of Christ and his Church--all while having fun on your own or as a group or family. I highly recommend this creative compendium of brainteasers and soul pleasers! --Kevin Vost, Author of Memorize the Faith! and The One-Minute Aquinas Matt Swaim pulls together brilliant puzzles for Catholic enthusiasts on all points of the nerd spectrum. Whether you have a few minutes alone or an afternoon in a waiting room, you'll want to tuck this prize into your bag and use it! --Sarah Reinhard, Catholic author and editor of Today's Catholic Teacher Catholic Puzzles, Word Games, and Brainteasers from Matt Swaim is everything I need in my life right now. I finally have a way to pray without ceasing while having fun and giving my brain a workout all at the same time! --Tommy Tighe, Author of The Catholic Hipster Handbook Faith will be less puzzling--and life will be less puzzling--if we learn to think in a more deeply Christian way. These puzzles help us to do just that, exercising our minds so that we 'have the mind of Christ' (1 Cor 2:16). Matt Swaim gives us lots of good fun that is funny.
