Captain George's Swashbuckling Tales is the accumulation of eighteen years of skills developed as a practitioner supporting young people, and families, with emotional regulation, motivation, goal-setting for sustainable pro-social change, and championing resilience. It is a comical take from the perspective of a young pirate captain who meanders the Seven Seas' challenges with the help of his crew and the characters he comes across. This book is formatted to include six different emotional regulation pillars. One apiece per tale. These include - Perseverance. Unhelpful labelling and the self-fulfilling prophecy. Utilising 'I Statements' to develop assertiveness to communicate more effectively. Developing confidence by stepping out of our comfort zone. Empathy and recognising that we all have feelings hidden below the surface within our subconscious. The importance of investing in positive friendship circles. These components are relevant to every one of us, young and old, and the purpose of this book's design is to introduce the emotional building blocks for the latter primary school aged pupils in preparation for their transition into secondary school. A milestone era where they prepare to manage their migration from their family's sphere of influence and into their peers' hands. A pivotal time where a foundation of emotional awareness will hold them in good stead as they enter the all-encompassing pressures of puberty and social media that inevitably awaits. Although this book is targeted at the latter primary school age, the valuable principles within can benefit us all, regardless of our age.
