OverviewCannons, Cannibals, and Baklava is the first of a compelling five book Steele Family Saga series. The book starts in the Ottoman Empire circa 1650AD. Greece as we know it today did not exist in those days, rather it was a collection of regions that spoke Greek. The story follows Spiros and his family's clan as they try to avoid blood and tax thirsty Turkish regiments on their dangerous trading goods from the coast. As the book progresses to the 1800s when the legendary family is placed into an early form of witness protection on an island off the Greek coast they become wealthy traders. A generation later the family moves to Egypt. Part two of the book follows the persecuted Camerons from Scotland in the 1800s to the Americas and eventually to Australia in the early 1900s where young men joined the first AIF and sailed for Egypt in WWI. During the conflict in East Africa, the Steeles as they are now known meet with a German Schutztruppe Doctor and a Greek Intelligence officer serving with the Allies, eventually all become close friends.
