Having known Pastor Harper for over 25 years, I can without reservation say that his book CALLED TO BE VICTORIOUS is the very extension of his heart and ministry. Pastor Harper takes us through scripture to help understand that each of us has the power and authority, and if we have the willingness to follow Christ, we will Be Victorious in every aspect that God has called us to. It is without reservation that I recommend this book to every believer across denominational lines. Dr. Don Allen, Jr PhD; Academic Dean/Instructor @ Grace Church of the Valley School of Ministry My friend Robert Harper has written a book from the meaning of life, and especially life in Christ, for him. It has been a labor of love and sometimes the emphasis has been on the labor as he tried to call forth all that he felt on this subject! I feel his spirit in the pages and I am convinced that his readers will also. This accomplishment (after many birth pangs) is testimony to the fact that is indisputable to those who know him. He has written from his experience and his heart, because he has been called to be victorious and wishes that every true born believer would uncover that foundational truth for themselves! James Mentlow, BTH St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church Cincinnati, Ohio The author, Rev. Robert W. Harper, is gripped by his conviction to view victory as a calling and not simply an achievement. This conviction is evident in the title of his opening chapter, Born Into the Position of Victory. As Jeremiah was called to be a prophet before his birth, the author posits believers are born in the position of victory. This book contains a message that moves the reader from when to then with the promise of the then of victory based upon the when of fulfillment. To illustrate the juxtaposed when and then conviction, Rev. Harper titles his third chapter, When We See Ourselves the Way God Sees Us. Vision is dominant in several chapters of this written account. The Holy Spirit stands in the shadows of this literary work opening the reader's eyes through revelation enabling readers to see what could not be seen without divine assistance. Although believers are victorious and more than conquerors, this victory is the result of divine-human instrumentality. The believer is in partnership with God who works through the believer to accomplish his purpose by giving the believer the will and the power to fulfill his divine purpose (Phil 2:12-13). This literary work explores this divine-human instrumentality from initiating the believer into the faith through salvation; instructing the believer about the faith through maturation and inspiring the believer to keep the faith through transformation. Readers will find the work of Rev. Robert W. Harper to be a theological primer that contains intraitrinitarian presence--a focus on God the Trinity--who is the impetus and stimulus behind Christian living and serving. This work is the author's inside voyage of sailing unchartered waters from victory to victory with sealed orders. This work is about calling--a call to be victorious and pulsates with the lyrics of the hymn A Charge to Keep I Have A charge to keep I have, a God to glorify, Who have His son my soul to save, and fit it for the sky. To serve this presently age, my calling to fulfill, O may it all my pow'ers engage to do my Master's will. Robert Smith, Jr. July 24, 2017
