Overview

`Bushido' literally translates as `the way of the Samurai', which forms the basis of this highly acclaimed work on the relations between modern Japanese cultural values and the country's ancient warrior codes. Important virtues such as courage, loyalty and self-control are explored against a background of Samurai heritage, whilst simultaneously considering the influence of other philosophies. This world-renowned book represents the first and the most influential text on Japanese cultural heritage to be so eloquently written in English.
