The ones we wrote about were the careful and the daring, the flamboyant, the pragmatic, the lucky and the very unlucky. They are vanishing into history now along with those of us who knew of them or flew with them. We old timers...also hear, sometimes only in memory, the distinct distant hum of a small aircraft, sunlight glinting in a momentary flash of silver off a set of aluminum pontoons high in the air. Once we were privileged to be a small part of that glorious era with its wonderful float plane fliers.
