OverviewA new collection of botanical British folk tales about plants and wild flowers, journeying through the seasons of the year. This is a collection of folk tales takes you on a green and leafy journey around the British Isles. Here are locally sourced and traditional folk tales of the wild trees and plants that surround us through the seasons: from the magical mistletoe to the badtempered stinging nettle. Plants shape our landscape, and they give us food, medicine and inspiration yet in the middle of our hectic lives, we often take them for granted. Our traditional stories, passed down the generations, tell of the complex relationship between people and plants in Britain, in lowlands and uplands, coasts, bogs, forests and towns. AUTHOR: Lisa Schneidau has an M.Sc. in Ecology and has worked for the last twenty years for Wildlife Trusts across the UK, in roles including farm advisor, botanical surveyor, political lobbyist and spokesperson, and conservation director. She has also been storytelling for about ten years, training with Shonaleigh Cumbers and Ben Haggarty. Lisa now divides her time between storytelling and managing wildlife projects for Devon Wildlife Trust. She leads the Dartmoor and South Devon story circles, and recent projects include sea stories for a new marine centre and Tales from the Wild, part of the Summerlands Storytelling Festival. 40 b/w illustrations Full Product DetailsAuthor: Lisa SchneidauPublisher: The History Press Ltd Imprint: The History Press Ltd ISBN: 9780750981217ISBN 10: 0750981210 Pages: 192 Publication Date: 19 March 2018 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers.
