OverviewPlease note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Bobosaurus is a genus of sauropterygian reptile related to plesiosaurs. It is based on a partial skeleton found in early Late Carnian-age rocks (Late Triassic) of northeastern Italy. Bobosaurus was named in 2006 by Dalla Vecchia; the type species is B. forojuliensis. It may be a pistosaurid, or closer to Plesiosauria. Sauropterygia ( lizard flippers ) were a group of very successful aquatic reptiles that flourished during the Mesozoic before they became extinct at the end of the era. They were united by a radical adaptation of their shoulder, designed to support powerful flipper strokes. Some later sauropterygians like the pliosaurs developed a similar mechanism in their pelvis.
