The secret is... they're contaminating our communities. (a) Big oil companies do not aggressively pursue and contain releases of product on a timely basis and (b) our government allows big oil companies to operate their service stations in contaminated soil. To a reasonable citizen it would appear they address human-caused environmental disasters at their convenience. I know that's hard to believe, but here's the story in their own words. This book is not about politics... the American people unanimously support holding big oil companies accountable. The expectations of the American people were clearly expressed after the Valdez oil spill. The American people expect... rapid response, containment, and fully restoration of the environment to its original condition (to the point of getting out and scrubbing the ducks). Despite the expectations of the American people... our government allows big oil companies to operate their service station in contaminated soil. The reason for the gap between the expectations of the American people and the actions of our government is the lack of public scrutiny. I think you'll find this book very stimulating.
