Overview

The book analyses the possibile ways of investigating the various sources of environmental information. It is adresses to an audience interested in learning how to do a bibliography research in the environmental field, how to write a scientific abstract, how to proceed whit the preparation of dissertations, essays, reports, or technical reports. The book also offers the opportunity to undertake a guide path through the main environmental issues, from the environment to the notion of biodiversity, and reports the most important international conferences on the environment. The book provides students and academics the opportunity to deepen both methodological aspects and contents in environmental research. It presents overview of the state of the art in information Literacy and the role of libraries in that context and touches on the main environmental databases and online resources. Some chapters describe a real educational project that, througt modules and teaching units, is aimed at the acquisition of skills on major environmental issues and on environmental information sources, e.g. the origins and development of environmental law in Italy; the European Union and environmental legislation; international conferences from Rio 92 to Rio +10; from Kyoto to Warsaw and Paris; environmental policy of cities; environmental damage; protection of criminal environmental damage; protection of the landscape; type of pollution.
