OverviewWater is a natural resource that sustains and develops life. It must be carefully monitored and rigorously controlled. With this in mind, ONEE-Branche Eau is responsible for treating and monitoring the quality of drinking water nationwide. Bacteriological analysis reveals faecal pollution in water. It is also a good way of checking the effectiveness of protection or treatment measures, and should be used as a complementary tool to health surveys. The bacteriological quality of raw groundwater from a borehole at Fkih Ben Saleh was studied in comparison with treated water. Fecal contamination indicator germs: total coliforms, faecal coliforms and faecal streptococci were tested using the most probable number (MPN) method. These analyses showed the absence of these faecal contamination indicator bacteria in treated water from the Khouribga region and also in the raw water from Ouled Abdellah in Fkih Ben Salah.
