Overview

The mother's voice is that constant music that accompanies growth: everything changes very quickly for the baby, but his mother's voice is always there to feed him, to hug him, to give him confidence. This book is a lullaby that can be sung day and night.

"""Spare, deeply felt, and graceful, this board book speaks to a deep bond between parent and child ... Wittner's watercolors have the simplicity of fine art and project the full feelings between these two.""----School Library Journal, starred review ""Toddler-PreS-A special construct informs every page of this board book: 'If Mama sings, ' the narrator eats, sleeps, or plays. In the very first scene, the child is not born yet, and so the narrator says, 'I float, ' and the illustrations show a very pregnant woman watering her garden. In the last spread, the narrator sings, too, and so the book comes full circle. Wittner's watercolors have the simplicity of fine art and project the full feelings between these two. VERDICT Spare, deeply felt, and graceful, this board book speaks to a deep bond between parent and child.""----School Library Journal, starred review"
