OverviewThis workbook provides the means of recording and evidencing the learning and the support that they have received whilst undertaking the Award in Personal Achievement. The Award in Personal Achievement is a qualification developed and supported by UK Youth and accredited by NCFE. The Award in Personal Achievement provides structure and recognition to the learning that takes place whilst being involved in non formal and/or informal education projects. The structured framework of the Award in Personal Achievement encourages Learners to: - Choose a challenge based on their interests - Set the targets they hope to meet - Take part in the challenge (at Entry 3) or complete their personal challenge within a team activity (at Level 1) - Review and reflect on their learning with their peers The Award in Personal Achievement is designed to be particularly successful with young people who would often not have the confidence, knowledge and/or skills to access more formal learning opportunities. At both levels the Award in Personal Achievement is a single unit, 3 credit qualification made up of 15 Guided Learning Hours. They are appropriate to Learners of any age who are participating in a non-formal or informal education programme. In order to gain recognition from NCFE, Learners participating in the Award in Personal Achievement can complete this Learner's Workbook and collect appropriate evidence to show that they have met the qualification's learning outcomes. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationUK Youth exists to develop and promote innovative non-formal education programmes for and with young people - working with them to develop their potential. UK Youth's special contribution to the development of youth work is their focus on the personal and social development of young people in the UK whose potential can be better realised through non-formal education routes. They seek to apply the principles of effective youth work to the contemporary interests and needs of young people via programmes that offer accredited learning outcomes. Our work addresses three important objectives: -Raising the aspirations of young people, often way beyond the boundaries of their existing experiences and expectations -Helping young people realise their potential through voluntary youth work programmes that start from the motivational interests of young people and promote learning -Ensuring that young people achieve formal recognition for the learning and achievements they gain as part of their youth work.
