Author Information

Author of the successful books: ""Un Doctor Por Favor"" and ""Hispanic Role Models in Science,"" Dr. Mina-Osorio is an immigrant physician specializing in Immunology. As a proud Latina, she mentors Hispanic/Latinx students interested in careers in science and medicine. She is also the founder of Science Education Online. This organization creates educational content for English as a second language (ESL) students. It also raises awareness of the lack of Hispanic physicians in the U.S. by publishing books about Hispanics in medicine and science. Her work can be found on social media @undoctorporfavor As the son of Mexican immigrants from Jalisco, the book illustrator Reniell Iñiguez (Reni) learned the importance of being proud of his Latino heritage and Spanish-speaking abilities. During his childhood, he would help his mom understand her doctor visits by interpreting from English to Spanish. With very few Latinx doctors in the US, Reni was motivated to become a Spanish-speaking doctor to help people like his mom. He is going to graduate with his medical degree in 2023; just like Aurora did after many years of hard work!
