Overview

The original builders of Ashwind Castle left the essence of their souls behind to select & teach the next generation of protectors of the realm. The time has come and evil has struck, sending the essences of the Lion Room deep into the earth. The remaining essences select their champions known to the realm as Guides. Brydon is one of these. He has the ability to speak with the dead and move them across to the next plane. When Brydon first experienced his ability the dead surrounded him, threatening to harm him if he didn't help them. Untrained and terrified Brydon wants nothing to do with his power. With the help of his friends he must learn to use his talents or the realm will collapse and the enemy will triumph.

Author Information

Melinda Canny is a world traveler, Army Veteran, amateur photographer, published poet and lifelong storyteller. Her Ashwind series follows a group of magically gifted kids who must learn to work together to save their realm. To do so, some must battle discrimination because of their disabilities or race, while others have to overcome the fear they have of the abilities they've been given.Melinda has seen the profound effect of encouragement on children with disabilities who are encouraged versus those who are diminished. Her son, a Special Education student, was underestimated by those around him. She worked diligently to teach him that the only thing that made him different was the way he learned. He succeeded in everything he tried. Melinda wants all children with disabilities to know that they have value and can do most anything they want.
