Overview

Poetry is the art of storytelling in verse. These pages contain a brief collection of Brandi's poetic creations, each a window into her soul. In the wake of tragedy, her reality shattered, leaving only dreams to navigate the present. At such a young age, and in order to function in her present capacity, she now lives her life 'in her dreams.' As I Breathe offers a small glimpse into that realm, almost as if she is vocalizing her dreams for all to hear.

Author Information

Brandi was born in 1978, and was the second of two children in the Tucker family. Even from a young age, she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. When she was eight years old the family lived in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. In 1986, she fell seriously ill with pneumonia and was hospitalized at the Chetwynd Hospital for over a week. She faced another major challenge on her way home when the vehicle she was riding in, collided head-on with a large wood truck, causing it to veer off the highway. Brandi hit her head on the dashboard and lost consciousness immediately. She was then rushed to a specialized children's hospital in Vancouver the next morning, where she spent more than a month in a coma. Despite some permanent damage, she has lived a relatively normal life. Today at 45 years old, with many God-given talents, poetry is still her foremost.
