Overview

The seventy drawings and the accompanying text in this book are the response of artist Deenagh Miller to the year 2020 and the Covid Pandemic. The location has no specific action, instead it seems to take place either on the land, in the air or in the water or sea. It consists of opposing forces and elements, for instance of light versus dark, the serious versus the frivolous, order versus chaos, good versus evil. The inclusion of some religious art gives the book a sense of timelessness. There are also animals, cats, birds, dogs, wolves, a lone horse, and the small animals quite likely to cause phobia, so be warned! Each drawing has short notes referencing the action, the work of the other artists, and the thoughts of the artist herself.

Reviews

Deenagh Miller's art on Instagram is of her phantasmagorical artworks - assembled with love and humanistic flair, the cacophony of her pandemic lockdown. Take up the challenge of guessing - speculating upon the nature of the creatures drawn and stories they might tell of us and our lives. WAYNE STAGG. Art Critic, 2022 I have been checking out your work on your website. If you may allow a non-artist philosopher to venture an opinion and without bringing in any aesthetic theory but just giving a visceral reaction: it is beautifully crafted, poignant, tragic, and of universal themes. DAVID PROUD. Philosopher, Huddersfield 2022
