OverviewApocalypse Postponed is the third volume in a three-book series called A Bonfire of Inanities: The Bible Dismantled In his latest groundbreaking book of biblical deconstruction, Dr Paul McGrane examines afresh the apocalyptic prophecies in the Old and New Testaments and convincingly demonstrates that they refer to events contemporary with the prophets concerned. Apocalypse Postponed identifies the two dozen most prominent Biblical prophecies and anchors each firmly in the distant past. Most importantly, the writers of the Book of Revelation are identified and their prophetic preoccupations are shown to be parochial and utterly rooted in 1st Century AD Palestinian politics. The AntiChrist in particular is clearly demonstrated to be a chimera that emerged from a range of unrelated and obscure texts that can now be understood as arising from the activities and teachings of a 1st Century sorcerer who peddled an alternative version of Christianity to those promulgated by the early Apostles and St. Paul. We even know his name! Similarly, the ‘Mark of the Beast’ was not the sign of some future satanic character heralding the Apocalypse, but more mundanely, a ritual of anointment practised by the same 1st Century sorcerer. Among the other such prophecies that are deconstructed in this book are: Gog and Magog Armageddon The Heavenly Mother and Child The Beast From the Sea The Beast From the Land The ‘Mark’ of the Beast The Seven, Eight and Ten Kings The Great Harlot The Man of Sin/Lawlessness The Restrainer The first volume, Ancestral Tales, traces the true ancestral and religious history of the Israelites and in particular, identifies among much else, the Pharoah of the Exodus, and the historical figures behind Joseph and Moses. The second volume, Mistaken Messiahs, traces how Jewish messianic belief finds its way into the New Testament and Christianity and identifies historical figures behind Jesus and the Apostles.
