Overview"Anthocephalus cadamba belongs to Rubiaceae family is ethnomedically widely used in different field of curing diseases. In this context, antimicrobial potential of A. cadamba against a wide range of microorganisms was studied. The methanolic extract of this plant showed significant antibacterial and least antifungal activity against all organisms; P. aeruginosa, E. coli, S. aureus, C. albicans, T. rubrum, Microsporum, A. niger [MRA1001 (fungi), MRSRA1101 MH, MRSRA1102 MH, MRSRA1103 MH are isolates of ""MRD LifeSciences""] the maximum zone of inhibition is recorded is 24.0 cm and 22.0 cm against E. coli, P. aeruginosa respectively. The minimum MIC determined, was 1.00 mg/ml of methanolic extracts of green fruit of A. cadamba against P. aeruginosa and S. aureus. The qualitative and quantitative phytochemicals screening shows that the leaves, bark, unripened and ripened fruit are rich in reducing sugar, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids, cardiac steroids which are important phytochemicals. To validate the ethnothesapeitic claims of the plant in skin diseases, wound healing activity was studied beside antioxidant activity to understand the mechanism of wound healing."
