Author Information

Faisal J. Abbas is the Editor-in-Chief of the Middle East’s leading English language daily, Arab News, and is Deputy Chair of the Saudi Journalists’ Association. He previously served as the Editor of the English language service of the Dubai-based Al Arabiya News Channel. But before leaving his mark in Arab media, it was in London where he cut his professional teeth. Abbas migrated to the UK in 2004 as a junior journalist and worked his way up to become a regular commentator on BBC, Sky News and wrote for The Huffington Post, Newsweek and Foreign Policy. Abbas is recipient of a number of media awards including the London-based Next Century Foundation’s Cutting-Edge Award (2009) for efforts in bridging the communication gap between the West and the Arab World, and British Council’s UK alumni “Social Impact” award in Saudi Arabia (2017). He is a member of National Union of Journalists (NUJ), the British Society of Authors and holds a master’s degree from the University of Westminster and a bachelor’s degree from the Lebanese American University.
