OverviewAndr -Michael Lwoff (* 8. Mai 1902 in Ainay-le-Ch teau, Allier, Frankreich; 30. September 1994 in Paris) war ein franz sischer Virologe. Lwoff f hrte 1962 eine Taxonomie der Viren ein. 1965 erhielt er zusammen mit Fran ois Jacob und Jacques Monod den Nobelpreis f r Physiologie oder Medizin f r ihre Entdeckungen auf dem Gebiet der genetischen Kontrolle der Synthese von Enzymen und Viren. 1974 wurde Lwoff erster Pr sident der Federation of European Microbiological Societies. Seinen Namen tr gt auch das Bakterium Acinetobacter lwoffii (Gattung Acinetobacter).
