On August 11, 2015, my wife Anne died. An hour and a half later, she returned. She did this very cleverly, by not contacting me, but rather a friend who was not yet aware of her passing. Death did not end our marriage but deepened it, so much so that we are now two souls sharing the same body. To honor this, I wear both rings-and this gets me to Stewart and this wonderful, empowering book. Our materialistic world has stricken us with soul blindness, but that is not true of Stewart Alexander. Reading An Extraordinary Journey, one cannot fail to come to an awareness that there is another level to reality. This book is an inspiration and a joy. Whitley Strieber, author of Communion and The Afterlife Revolution Stewart's integrity and humility combined with his commitment not only to the great responsibility of being a physical medium, but also his dedication to Spiritualism in his extensive knowledge of the history and the development of Spiritualism in general and physical mediumship in particular. Maintaining an honesty, clarity and precision to detail, in combination with his humanity has resulted in a book which is a must read for anybody interested in the subject of physical mediumship. A true servant of the Spirit. It has been an honour knowing Stewart. Anthony Harris - Buddhist practitioner and grandson of the legendary physical medium, Alec Harris. This book contains an unbelievable story, told with all sincerity and care, and witnessed by multiple individuals who add their own testimony. Of course, nobody wishes to be fooled or to be thought a fool. So, the simple response when confronted with bizarre evidence, no matter how unimpeachable, is simply to assume that, given enough time, the trick or the error will be exposed. After all, skepticism is healthy - and better to play it safe. This is why, in spite of nearly 140 years of empirical evidence (as collected by the Society for Psychical Research and other similar organizations), the mainstream scientific community at large still treats accounts such as this as unworthy of serious consideration. The handful of scientists who feel otherwise know full well that, if they are too forthright about their interest, they will face damaging repercussions. In my own case, not being dependent upon institutional or academic support, I have been fortunate to have personally witnessed many examples of both macro-psychokinesis and spiritualistic manifestations. Although I have never met Stewart Alexander, I trust his account because it is largely consistent with my own experience. I trust his sincerity, because I also know how it feels to share stories that are perceived as unbelievable. Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, host and producer of New Thinking Allowed, YouTube channel Historians and humanists like to imagine that physical mediums like Stewart Alexander-individuals who manifest dramatic physical and materializing effects around their altered states of mind and body-are little more than Victorian legends or malformed memories, anything really other than what they actually appear to be: people, human beings. Or superhuman beings. Alas, we generally like our people banal and boring. And we certainly like our superhumans long gone and dead, so we can pretend that they really could not do these things. Turns out they could, and that even death is not so simple. Jeffrey Kripal, Associate Dean of the Humanities, Rice University; author of Authors of the Impossible: The Paranormal and the Sacred
