Author Information

Lisa Varchol Perron is a children's poet and author, as well as a psychotherapist. Lisa earned her MA in Humanities from New York University and her MSW from the University of California, Berkeley, with a concentration in Children, Youth, & Families. She loves spending time outdoors and can often be found searching for rocks with her kids and her husband, Taylor Perron, along the New England coast. Taylor Perron is a professor of geology in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Taylor holds an AB in Earth and Planetary Sciences and Archaeology from Harvard University and a PhD in Earth and Planetary Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and a MacArthur Fellow. Taylor grew up in rural Vermont, which inspired his fascination with the Earth. David Scheirer is an artist living in Aberdeen, Maryland. He creates his work with ink and watercolors, and draws in a graphic, whimsical, simplified style. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, bird watching, fossil collecting, and beach combing.
