Overview

This book gives a brief record of significant incidents in the history of Aljaaliyoon, the largest community in central Sudan, during the nineteenth century (1821 - 1899), together with a brief record of the outstanding achievements of prominent members of that community in the making of modern Sudan. The book also gives a brief history and review of the colonial period of the Sudan up to its independence in 1st January 1956.

Author Information

The Author, Dr. Osman Elsayed Ibrahim, was borne in Sudan in 1935; and completed his undergraduate education in Wadi Saidna Seconday School, in Omdurman. He graduated from the University of London in 1963 with B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering; and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews, in Scotland, in 1969. Dr. Osman was a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering in the University of Khartoum from 1970 and up to1978; and during the period 1983-1990, he joined, as a consultant, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait. In 2001, he was the first appointed Secretary for Electricity Regularity Authority in Sudan, a post that he held until 2006. Dr. Osman is married and has two sons and two daughters.
