Traditional aikido is often refered to as Takemusu Aiki and is a martial art that combines empty handed techniques (tai jutsu) and weapons (buki waza), the sword and staff. About the author Mats Alexandersson is the head instructor of Stockholm Aikido Club in Stockholm, Sweden. He started in aikido 1984 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He has been engaged in his work for aikido nationally as well internationally. In 1994 Alexandersson founded Stockholm Aikido Club where he teaches traditional aikido.
