He had held the Indian Oil Golden Jubilee Professional Chair in IIT Kanpur. He has been conferred with several awards and recognitions. His major areas of research interests are propulsion, combustion and atomization. He has written five textbooks and six edited books in the field of combustion and propulsion. He has published 238 research papers in international/national journals and has five patents to his credit. He has undertaken more than 37 research and consultancy projects from various agencies, research labs and industries.
