OverviewThe earth's sustainable development is threatened by the energy exhaustion and rising atmospheric concentrations of CO2 linked to global warming. One of the causes of the energy crisis and the increased atmospheric CO2 content could be the imbalance between the rapid consumption of fossil fuels due to anthropogenic activities and the slow formation of fossil fuels. An efficient method for counteracting the imbalance in the carbon cycle and keeping sustainable development should involve CO2 utilization and conversion. This book brings together recent advances in CO2 capture, sequestration, and conversion and consists of 14 peer-reviewed chapters, with emphasis on the photocatalytic conversion of CO2, chemical fixation of CO2, and CO2 reforming of methane. It also includes novel methods of CO2 reduction, such as selective hydrogenation in supercritical carbon dioxide and hydrothermal reduction of CO2, and the recent advances in CO2 capture and storage.
