""Illustrated with hundreds of black and white sketches rendered from photographs, this volume is important more than impressive. It summarizes in tips and frequent wrap-up statements what is essential to remember about aikido's philosophy, spiritual roots, inner development, techniques, and even self-defense scenarios, demonstrations, competitions, and seminars. The technical section (Pt. Three) is the strongest and most valuable.""--""Journal of Asian Martial Arts"" ""The book speaks to a segment of the training population that many other works do not, and is a lot of bang for the buck. I recommend it as a fixture in any library. Borrow it if you have to, but buy it if you can.""--""Aikido Journal""
