OverviewDuring the last few decades, considerable developments have taken place in acoustic remote sensing instrumentation and theory to probe the structure of the lower atmosphere and the oceans. The present volume has been composed to fulfill the above purpose in its 23 articles, divided into three parts, it gives an all round progress of technical developments in instrumentation and of theoretical advancements in the subject of acoustic remote sensing. It explains the utilization of acoustic techniques, in studies related to the structure of lower atmosphere and oceans and the information available therefore for the various atmospheric and oceanic applications. It also describes the potential and limitations of acoustic remote sensing. The matter has been illustrated with a numbner of diagrams of which a few are in colour. The topics have been carefully selected and articles have been written by experts in their respective areas.
