OverviewACADEMIA BASIC has a standard planner layout and is perfect for shoving into backpacks and purses because of its hardcover. This UNDATED version means versatility no matter what month you start it. WP is a book planner because spirals get squished in backpacks, are awkward in purses, and are the bane of lefties. It has a super hard cover with a waterproof laminate coating that is perfect for writing without a table nearby, and it's a great couch companion when you need to sit your drink down on a more stable surface. WP was designed by a grad student in a PhD program who wanted a planner that fit the grad student lifestyle of random 5am mornings, 11pm study sessions, and the constant need for a hard surface to write on. Now, after four successful Kickstarters and 3 years of testing it out with a wide variety of planning enthusiasts all over the world, the new WP sizes offer a large LETTER (8.5x11) version to protect loose pages stuffed inside, a new compact A5 (5.8x8.3) option, and a cool grid-based Squared version for those wanting something a little different! Plus, it's made just for you in the USA, UK, and Australia! I recently started carrying a Wright Planner after watching their production for a while. I've liked the layout from the start, but needed something smaller than letter sized. I jumped at the chance to get the Academic A5. The paper is thick and holds ink well. I've come from using Japanese planners with expensive thin paper, so I like the thickness a bit more. I don't use fountain pens, but I have used Pilot G-2s, Microns, and highlighters with no ghosting or bleed through. The planner is lightweight and the cover has so far withstood being tossed around in a backpack. Also important is that it will lay flat. Overall, I am very pleased with the things that you can't assess prior to purchase, like the paper, laying flat, and the weight. - Paula I've purchased Wright Planners for a couple years now. I'm always impressed by the paper quality (pretty much any pen is usable with showing through on the next page), the layouts are abundant and have something for every kind of planner, and the quality is unmatched. I am personally a fan of the extended editions so I can track everything from my daily schedule, sleep, water intake, exercise, weekly habits, and food log. I still have space left to document all of my phone calls, orders, to do lists, grocery lists, and more. I love that everything is all in one book and that it is durable enough to survive in any bag. - Laurie This is, hands down, the most useful planner on the market. Every inch of space is optimally utilized in a clean, appealing format. I love that the boxes and daily habit trackers are totally customizable for whatever your needs are. As a grad student, the project and paper planning sections are super handy. As a mom to special needs kids, having places to write down frequently used reimbursement codes, medical IDs, and addresses is a game changer (I use the to do list section next to spring semester page for this purpose- it's perfect for it!) The paper is thick and doesn't bleed through even when markers/highlighters/flairs are used. The binding is reinforced and isn't prone to breakage. The pages lay decently flat, so I don't miss my spiral bound planner at all. This planner is also lighter and thinner than an ErinCondren or similar planner of the same size which is a huge plus for me. Cover is waterproof, so set those cups on it no problem. Overall, great planner- you won't be disappointed. - Aja I have tried several different planner brands and styles (EC, Happy, Inkwell, generic, bullet journaling, vertical format, horizontal, hourly) and still found myself lacking planner peace. I have finally found it with the Wright planner. I love the detailed 20 min spaces, the thick paper, the hard cover, the extra pages between weeks for jotting down notes. - Lian (5 star ratings and reviews via Wright Planner Co.
