In May 1936, George Dalziel flew far up the Nahanni River to check on Bill Eppler and Joe Mulholland, who were working one of his traplines. John Harris earned degrees in English literature at the University of British Columbia and McGill University. He taught English for many years at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George. In addition to travel literature, fiction and literary criticism, Harris has written seven books, including Diary of a Lake (2002), Tungsten John (2000) and Other Art (1997).
