Reviews

'Having experienced first-hand how challenging transformation programmes can be for any organisation, this book is packed with wise insights and practical advice on designing and running such programmes. It all starts with the humility to accept that what you are setting out on is very different to what an organisation is used to doing, so learning from others is key to your success. In this book, Gary presents a goldmine of these rich learnings - actioning them is down to you.' -- David Clamp, Founder of the Camelot Network and SENSE Consortium 'This book contains a lifetime of knowledge from a highly experienced transformation specialist. If you are a project sponsor, decision maker, manager or team member, read it and increase the chances of having far better outcomes for your projects and programmes.' -- Tony Tarquini, Insurance Industry Advisor 'In a world that is getting ever faster, it's important to go slow, to take stock before proceeding to change. This book covers all the aspects to consider, based on theory and years of practical experience, before embarking on a transformation programme.' -- Hélène Stanway, Non-Executive Director, Insurance Industry Advisor and President of SENSE Consortium 'Digital transformation is a vast and complex subject area with many potential pitfalls for the uninitiated. In this book, Gary provides valuable insights, practical advice and ways to think about it that will help leaders adopt the right approach to achieving success in their digital transformation endeavours.' -- Tim Ellis, CEO of The Digital Transformation People and Talent Match 'What is the best approach for leaders to ensure that fundamental changes to the ways a business operates actually get done, never mind deliver on the promises made? It's such a vital question with so many different answers, blueprints, methodologies, silver bullets... and the rest! What we know is that technology is not the answer, however comforting that long-lived illusion might have been. So, what is? Programmes fail because the firm has paid insufficient attention to being brilliant at the art and science of collaboration. Gary has set out to practically bridge this gap with an accessible, grounded approach designed to harness the expertise, energy and collaborative muscle of every function, from specification to post-implementation review. It's much needed.' -- Shân Millie, The Accidental Teccie, expert in tech and data value generation in financial services 'Perspective, pacy, punchy, practical. Gary has rich experience and presents it in an entertaining and memorable manner. While there is no silver bullet for transformation, there are many golden nuggets of experience and advice in this book. Great read cover to cover, to dip into or return to.' -- Mark Simpson, Founder of Resilient Changing 'There are lots of books and papers published on leading organisations through transformational change, and most approach things from a theoretical perspective. I enjoyed reading this book because Gary shares his personal experience of leading organisations on such a journey. As such, this book is full of practical and pragmatic guidance that you can easily apply to help you successfully navigate what can often be choppy waters.' -- Tony Lockwood, Founder of The Transformation Leaders Hub 'A practical book on transformational change that will make you reconsider what you are doing and how you are doing it and change your approach immediately. Easy to read, much harder to implement, this book is full of advice that will set you on a transformation path with a much greater chance of success.' -- Karen Stanford, COO of GreenKite Associates
