OverviewSTDs remain a major health problem in both developed and developing countries. If untreated they may cause serious adverse effects on reproductive organs and child health aspects. The various studies conducted in Ethiopia and Rwanda related to the aspects of validating the syndromic approach of management of STDs as well as evaluating the effects and status of prostitution among refugee communities associated with STIs have been well addressed. The review of these research activity outcomes would then give enough information to all researchers, medical and biological students who would have the interest to continue working on all aspects and risk factors of STIs in the different regions of the developing countries of Africa and others.
