OverviewA Political and Economic Dictionary of the USA is a Compendium of the terms and ideas that define the political, economic and social state of the USA. The status of the USA as a superpower is based on its political and governmental system and its free-market economy. These have been undergoing seminal changes. American hegemony is being eroded by forces from within and without. The very language of politics and economics and the very sources of American identity are being recast. Solidarities based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion and sexual identity, and animated by concerns such as environment and immigration challenge the old understanding of US politics and economy defined by traditional left/right dichotomies. This Dictionary aims to present a portrait of the new emerging USA in the early 21st century.
