Overview

Barbara's biographical book of poetry and prose celebrates her family, the journey of her life, her long-lasting friendships, regional differences and especially her abiding faith on God. Barbara was in a Hospice setting and off-handedly showed one of her religious poems to a staff member, who encouraged her to publish it. Fast-forward a few years later and this, A Mother's Yearning & Thankfulness Along the Path of Life, is Barbara's second book. This book is a giant, rhyming thank-you note to those she has loved in life: her children, her old friends and her beloved husband Andy.

Reading Barbara Laubert's poetic work highlights the aspects of her life that she treasures most; family, love and faith. Raised as one of four children, her life journey has been rooted in love and respect from an early age. Exploring her creative side was sparked by visiting her grandmother. The trials that Barbara faced at a young age taught her endurance and perseverance that fueled the rest of her life journey. Barbara's work is often inspired by the love and admiration that she holds for her husband, Andy, and their nine children. The challenges and joys that accompany raising children, Barbara had an outlet for her emotions through her written work. She credits her ability to overcome hardships in life to her Christian faith ad trusting in God's plan. Her poems reflect a spectrum of emotions endured over the years, and her perspective on life allows us insight into a mother's heart for her family. Barbara's work showcases the broad perspective on the world she gained through many travels and adventures with her husband and family. She offers wisdom, how to love and respect those around you. The heartbeat in each poem is living in faith and joy amid the hardships of life. It is an honor to have worked alongside Barbara as she compiled her written works into a published book. The wisdom displayed in each poem is a beacon to living life well and fully. By Katie Courson inspiring Hospice Group Volunteer
