A Manual for Discipleship is much needed in our time especially because many people are ripe for harvest. In Christ's time, Jesus expressed compassion for the multitudes who were lost and without direction and felt the need for more laborers. He said: But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. -Matthew 9:36-38The problem today is that many Christians and church members do not participate in soul-winning and discipleship because of the lack of knowledge and others rely on the pastor to do the job. Some Christian workers would do Bible study and when they run out of topics or are unprepared, they would depend on their feelings or get an old stocked topic to share. Though there are well equipped preachers who can share any time with great knowledge of the Bible, yet others find it difficult to teach without much preparation. Most Christians do not get involved in soul-winning and discipleship because they felt they are not capable to lead and they think it takes time to learn. Actually you do not have to be a pastor, a seminary-graduate, or have much theological knowledge in order to start winning souls and leading others. Even if you feel you are an ordinary person, God can use you to lead Bible studies. There is a saying, God uses ordinary people to accomplish great and extra-ordinary task . As you avail yourself to study and lead others, you will grow spiritually and become effective in leadership with the help of discipleship materials. Knowledge grows through study and practice. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. -Proverbs 11:25This manual of discipleship was written to help a believer grow as well as equip him to share his faith. It will also motivate contacts to continue with the Bible study as they accomplish a lesson and progress into advance topics.
