The impact on families and loved ones is significant and sometimes overlooked. This also helps professionals understand the family perspective. Thank you Dr. Daley and Dr. Douaihy for keeping families a priority and continuing to shine a light on how families can recovery. I highly recommend this book. -- Krista Shae Lion, M.Ed, CADC, Project Manager, Community Medicine Inc, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center This book is a wonderful resource for professionals who are working with those affected by substance use but is also a tremendous resource for family members as well! This book provides a clear understanding of not only substance use disorders, but the effects it has on family members as well as what the family needs to consider in their own process of treatment and recovery. It helps guide our work so we can focus the family on ways in which they stay healthy while trying to support their loved one. We need more resources such as this book so that we can better understand how to support families as they cope with changes in their life due to a loved one's substance use. -- Susanne Cole, President and CEO, Pressley Ridge """Substance Use Disorders have a major impact on individuals, families, communities and our nation.
