Author Information

I was born in Colombo, (Ceylon), Sri Lanka on the 22nd of January 1950. I graduated from St. Anthony's Convent Colombo and went on to obtain an Associated Teacher's Diploma at The Wendy Whitmore Academy of Speech and Drama in 1973. I am the youngest in a family of four and grew up with three brothers. I immigrated to Canada in 1975. I have one daughter, Helena, who was born to me in 1979. Having been in the line of teaching in Sri Lanka, I pursued my career further, obtaining a diploma in Early Childhood Education (E.C.E) in 1983. I then taught in various daycare centers in Toronto. It was while working with children, that I was inspired to put together this book. I owe my writing career to my mother and maternal grandfather, who imbibed in me, a love for poetry. Thus, I was able to soar to newer and greater heights as it were. My favorite poet, Rudyard Kipling wrote: If you can fill the unforgiving minute, with sixty seconds worth of distance run, yours is the earth, and everything that's in it..
